Another pub is the last thing town needs

HOW many people are aware that the plans to site 13 shipping containers at the West St Leonards Bathing pool site involve no bathing facilities whatsoever?

While campaigning for a more sustainable alternative, it is apparent that many people still believe that a bathing pool will be reinstated.

In truth, the intention is for a bar/restaurant with live music facilities. Brighton on the beach springs to mind.

This site is one of few remaining open spaces in the town. There is vast potential to create a natural bathing pool, an area for all ages to benefit and an opportunity to provide an all-year-round space that facilitates healthy activities for the whole family to enjoy.

This site is ripe for development, but, please, another pub is not what this town needs. Surely we can come up with something more imaginative that links the two ends of town. With 500 signatures against the proposal obtained in just a few days we all need to ask ourselves: what does this unspoilt area of St Leonards really need?

I urge you all to take a look at www.oldbathingpool.com for a refreshing sustainable alternative.
