Three artists show recent paintings and sculpture linked in diverse ways to the sea, at Hastings Arts Forum, Marina, St Leonards.
The work is by Nicola Waters, Stephen Postgate and Kathleen Dawson .
Nicola Waters is a sculptor working with both soft and hard materials.
She takes the mermaid myth a step further, observing the merwoman engaging with motherhood, domesticity and mortality.
Stephen Postgate’s large multi image canvases draw the viewer’s eye around a grid of evocative and iconic imagery.
Playful distortions of familiar pictures sit beside impressions of Cyprus painted in the last two years.
Kathleen Dawson observes and invokes change in the natural and built landscape, encompassing its melancholy and beauty in her exploration of geographic themes.
The exhibition runs until November 21, admission is free. www.hastingsartsforum.co.uk.
