Woman attacked in Warrior Square, St Leonards

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a 42-year-old black woman who was attacked in Warrior Square, St Leonards.

The victim was sitting in her parked vehicle when the assault took place between 5pm and 5.30pm on Sunday, May 7.

She sustained bruising and cuts to her knees.

When officers attended there were many members of public present, and detectives are appealing for these people to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have other information about it is asked to email [email protected], report details online at sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal or call 101, quoting serial 1007 of 07/05.

Alternatively, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Peter Nyabakari, 47, from Tanzania, has been charged with theft and assault by beating and bailed to appear before Hastings Magistrates Court on Friday, June 30.
