Woman assaulted at St Leonards cash machine

A WOMAN was assaulted as a man attempted to snatch the money she was withdrawing from a cash point.

She was waiting in the queue to use the Nationwide building society cash point in London Road, St Leonards with her partner, on April 10 at 4.15pm.

He partner then went into a nearby shop, while she continued to wait.

The man in front of her started a conversation with someone else, so she asked if she could go first. He said yes.

As the money was about to come out of the cash machine the same man barged her in the shoulder and tried to snatch the money.

The woman shouted, her partner came out of the shop, and the man ran away empty-handed.

The suspect is described as white, in his forties, 5ft 10ins, with short mousey coloured hair.

He was wearing a white jacket with two horizontal black stripes across it and grey jogging bottoms, was of scruffy appearance and had stubble on his face.

PC Chloe Burgess of Hastings Response Investigation Team, said: “It is believed that the suspect is frequently seen in the Lower St Leonards area. Any witness or anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting serial 1451 of 10/4. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
