GENEROUS theatre-goers at the White Rock have helped raise more than £90,000 towards a London hospital’s appeal.
HQ Theatres, which manages the theatre on behalf of the council, together with eight others in the country, collected £93,068 between last October and the end of March for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’s Theatres for Theatres Appeal.
The cash was raised through audience bucket collections, as well as a number of fundraising events.
The hospital’s appeal aims to raise £4 million towards the construction of two new state-of-the-art operating theatres for children from all parts of the UK who require specialist neurosurgery.
Its neurosciences team treat more than 8,000 children and carry out around 750 operations each year.
The demand for neurosurgery already outstrips current capacity and the two new theatres will mean that they can treat up to 20 per cent more children.
All nine theatres and venues in the HQ Theatres and Qdos Entertainment Group, including the White Rock plan to carry on raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital over the next year.
