AROUND 40 brave people walked across hot coals in the name of charity.
Scores of well-wishers cheered on the firewalkers as they took part in St Michael’s Hospice’s popular fundraiser on Wednesday, April 20.
The participants underwent training for two hours before braving 20ft of hot coals.
Marcia Dart, the hospice’s challenge event fundraiser, said more than £2,000 has so far come in, and believes the final figure could top £8,000.
She said: “All the firewalkers who took part absolutely loved it and felt motivated.”
Everyone who joined in was given a t-shirt and certificate marking their achievement after the event, which was held at William Parker Sports College.
Spectators were treated by live entertainment from 1066 Rockitmen, Section 5 Drummers and Hastings Community Circus.
Children enjoyed having their faces painted and dancing displays were performed by Alex Wingate and So Tango.
A firework display by Fireworks Connections kept the crowds dazzled at the finale.
Mrs Dart said: “I am very grateful for everyone who gave up their free time for nothing to help make the event a success, and to all of the entertainers.”
