West St Leonards Townswomen’s Guild

A VERY busy summer has been enjoyed by our members.

The speakers at our monthly meetings have been most interesting and varied, ranging from Life in the Prison Service with John Mills, fashions from Marks & Spencer with Sharon Brady, Parks and Gardens with Nick Hennesy, Wills and Trusts with David Cowley and last month Martin West informed us of the good work which is carried out by Street Pastors.

In June 20 of us attended Townswomen’s National Annual General Meeting, which this year was held in Harrogate.

We took the opportunity to stay at Warners Nidd Hall Hotel for a week and attended the AGM on the middle Wednesday. We were fortunate with the weather in September, when we took a day trip to Windsor and indulged in a cream tea while taking a cruise on the River Thames.

Our latest trip out was to Chatham’s historic dockyard. This was a most interesting day with ships to board, rope to make and even a tour of a submarine.

Our next outing is in December when we will go to Winchester for the day to the Christmas Market and to attend Townswomen’s National Carol Service in the cathedral.

Our arts and crafts group have been very busy making items to sell at our Autumn Fair, taking place this year on Saturday, November 2 at St Martha’s Church Hall, Little Common.

Our drama group are busy rehearsing for their annual ‘performance’ at our December meeting.

Ladies, there is always something going on at TG so if you would like to learn more, please phone Dee on 01424 753108 or just come along to our next meeting. We meet at 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the Arthur Easton Centre, Upper Maze Hill. You will be made most welcome.
