CYCLISTS are wanted for a biking spectacular to take place on The Stade.
Bicycle Ballet needs up to 100 local performers to take part in the performance on September 29, which is a 30-minute celebration of the highs and lows of cycling.
Originally conceived and produced by Karen Poley for Car Free Day 2006 and directed by choreographer Virginia Farman, it has been a hugely successful project (touring to Brighton, London, Manchester and Lille) and has been funded by Arts Council England and partners to tour as part of the Cultural Olympiad celebrations in 2012.
The show is performed by two distinct groups.
Up to 50 local cyclists and performers in The Chorus perform the bulk of the show’s choreography – formation routines, character stories, pastiches and pyrotechnic effects.
While up to 60 people in The Mass, punctuate the show by sweeping across the performance space in giant formations performing Mass actions.
Commitment to rehearsals is required but no experience is necessary. All ages welcome, although a level of cycling proficiency is required.
