A CHARITY which provides a vital service for the elderly has been shortlisted for a top national award.

Age UK East Sussex Take Home and Settle service has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Skills for Care Accolade awards. The service which operates at the Conquest Hospital has secured a place in the final three out of a total of 38 nominations.

Take Home and Settle volunteers work closely with the hospital intervention team in the A&E department.

The service provides a fast response service to enable older people to be safely settled in at home once discharged from hospital. The clients who receive the service usually live alone and require support to develop their confidence.

The winner will be announced on March 14 in London.
