THE council has issued another appeal for more volunteer meteorologists to help with its weather readings.
Hastings Borough Council is hoping to recruit a small pool of volunteers to run the service which was nearly scrapped under council cuts earlier this year but was eventually saved.
The authority issued a similar appeal in April.
Cllr Peter Chowney, deputy leader and the council’s lead member for marketing, said: “Our meteorology service has been running for well over 100 years, and relies on volunteer help. We have already recruited some helpers, and are looking for more to complete the team.
“Our volunteer meteorologists will help collect weather data from different sites across Hastings every single day of the year. We will reimburse expenses, and full training will be given. We are looking to recruit a pool of helpers, so we would only expect them to work one week in, say, five or six.
“Our volunteers will ensure that Hastings can continue to be recorded, regularly, as the sunniest and warmest place in the UK.”
