THE popular Smugglers Adventure is closed until mid-January next year for refurbishment, though due to technical difficulties the website of the West Hill attraction has yet to be updated.
Smugglers Adventure is undergoing the first phase of a major refurbishment programme over the winter, and has been closed since November 1.
The caves will be completely re-wired, with new lighting and audio-visual infrastructure installed.
Manager Trevor White said: “It’s a lot of work and we had no alternative than to temporarily close the caves to the public while it’s in progress.
“Once completed it will significantly improve the overall visitor experience and enable us to refresh and update the current displays and attractions.”
He added that they were working to get the website updated as a matter of urgency, in order to keep the public informed of the closure.
Below the surface of the West Hill, the Smugglers Adventure offers visitors the chance to explore the history of the smugglers of the 18th century.
