A FIRM favourite of carnival-goers is the Seaboot Race, which saw 145 entrants put their best foot forward.

The race is held in memory of Old Towner Peter Trickett, who died in 2002, and the fastest runner wearing seaboots along the length of Courthouse Street, round a lobster pot and back, is presented with Peter Trickett’s walking stick, to be held for a year.

Glynn Fuller was the fastest man, completing the course in 9.38 seconds, and Lisa Devine the fastest woman, with a time of 12.06 seconds.

Following the race was the Grand Charity Auction of gifts donated by Old Town traders, which this year raised £1,831 for local good causes.
