THIS year’s Hastings Week festivities kicked off today (Saturday).
The opening ceremony started proceedings at 9.45am outside the town hall followed by the two-day Classic Car Show on The Stade.
Highlights included the Books Born in Hastings event at the town hall and simultaneous chess in the Priory Centre from 1pm.
On Sunday (October 13) the 1066 East Hill Steps Race starts and finishes on Winkle Island. Runners head off from 11am.
During the week there will be numerous exhibitions and events at locations including The Fishermen’s Museum, Hastings History House, Hastings Museum, the Old Town Hall Museum, and the Unitarian Church in South Terrace.
A two-day hobbies and crafts fayre will take place at Sacred Heart School on October 19 and 20.
The main highlight of Hastings Week is the procession and bonfire on Saturday, October 19. The festivities end on Sunday, October 20 with the Sprat & Winkle Vintage Commercial Vehicles Run from Sevenoaks arriving at The Stade from 11am.
