Part of a roof of a house was completely destroyed in a fire this morning.

Firefighters from both Bohemia Road and The Ridge fire stations attended the scene in West Hill Road this morning (Friday, August 14) just after 10.30am.

Traffic faced disruption on the road between Quarry Hill and West Hill Road as the emergency services dealt with the incident.

Tony Giles, crew commander for Bohemia Road fire station, who was on scene, said a decorator was working on the roof and using a blow torch to remove old paint when the fire started accidentally.

No one was injured and no one was in the house at the time, he added.

Firefighters used the aerial ladder platform to extinguish the blaze and remove the destroyed parts of the roof.
