Firefighters are today (Tuesday, April 21) tackling what is thought to be a gorse fire on East Hill, Hastings.
Crews were called out at about 3.30pm following multiple 999 calls to the service control centre.
Four pumps and two landrovers are at the scene, along with two officers and a command support unit.
“It is not known what has caused the blaze,” said a spokesman.
“Large fires in the open usually involve gorse and grassland.”
Chris Barham sent in pictures he took from his balcony in Marianne Park, Hastings.
“My wife was sun bathing in the garden and she said ‘oh look’ so I thought I should get a picture,” he said.
Elke Barham said: “I looked up and thought ‘gosh, what’s that?’.”
Andy Bissenden also sent in pictures which showed areas of grass ablaze.
