Hastings Borough Council is calling out for unused bicycles to be upcycled for the town’s children.
Working with Sustrans and Hastings & St Leonards Community Bike Workshop, the council hopes to collect bicycles to donate to a project called Bike It.
Sustrans, a leading UK charity enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport deliver the scheme called Bike It in schools across Hastings and East Sussex, encouraging and supporting students to travel actively and safely to school.
It is looking for donations of bikes suitable for children aged 4-11.
Hastings & St Leonards Community Bike Workshop volunteers will carry out a full service and any repairs to make sure donated bikes are safe.
Where a bike is given to an individual child a suggested donation of £5 is requested to cover the cost of spare parts.
Bikes can be dropped off at the Stade Hall, Rock a Nore, between noon and 4pm on Saturday, January 16.
