A CCTV image showing two men wanted in connection with a theft from a pensioner in his home has been published by police.
The 88-year-old of Lower South Road, St Leonards, answered his door at 12.50pm on March 27 to a man who said he was selling domestic cleaning products.
While they were speaking a second man asked to use the toilet.
Both men then entered the address and shortly after they left the elderly man discovered that two watches had disappeared
The men are both described as white. One was about 30, of medium build, about 6ft 1in, and wore an earring.
The second man was in his early twenties, about 5ft 7ins, with medium to dark hair.
Both were carrying holdalls.
The picture comes from CCTV at the nearby Co-op and was taken very shortly after the incident took place.
Detective Constable Nicola Westgate said: “If you saw these men in the area on Wednesday, or if you have recently been approached by someone apparently offering cleaning products at the door, please let us know by calling 101, quoting serial 0635 of 27/3. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
“We also remind residents, especially the elderly, to be very cautious about ‘cold callers’.
“Make sure you are satisfied that they have a genuine and lawful reason for calling, and if in doubt keep them out. If you are concerned, and if they are still present or nearby, call us on 999.
“If you have any other suspicions about callers, call 101 and ask to speak to your local neighbourhood policing team.”
