Two men assaulted in wine bar in Hastings

POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information following a fight in the men’s toilets of a wine bar in Hastings at about midnight yesterday (Thursday).

Two men have alleged they were attacked by two other men at Yates Wine Lodge in Robertson Street. One of the victims was punched to the head and the other had his ear bitten.

A police spokesman said: “It is unclear at this stage what the circumstances were leading up to this incident so we’re keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has information.

“Police have arrested two men on suspicion of assault, a 21-year-old from St Leonards and a 22-year-old from Brighton. Both have been released on police bail until January 31 pending further enquiries.

“Anyone who saw what happened or has information is asked to call police on 101, quoting serial 0110 of 27/12. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
