TWO members of the 7th St Leonards (St Matthews) Guides are celebrating after receiving the highest accolade, a Baden-Powell Challenge Award.

Georgina Allen and Laura Caister, both aged 14, from St Leonards, received the award from Olau Millyard, unit leader and Catherine Turner, unit assistant, during a special party attended by their families and the rest of their unit.

Georgina, who has progressed from the Rainbows and Brownies to Guides, is continuing as a Young Leader and Laura, who was introduced to Guides by a friend, hopes to move on to the Senior Section.

Georgina’s challenges included water safety and canoeing, a Fairtrade project, and producing a camp cook book.

Laura’s challenges included a sponsored walk, household cleaning, and dancing.

Guides must complete 10 challenges in different categories to achieve the award, including healthy lifestyles, global awareness, and celebrating diversity, as well as taking part in a Baden Powell Adventure Challenge residential event.
