Tributes have been paid to student Oliver Corby-Eaglen who died this week after his moped collided with a car.
The 17-year-old, of The Green, St Leonards, studied at Sussex Coast College.
Police and paramedics were called to London Road in St Leonards at 9.40pm last Sunday (September 1) after his Piaggio moped collided with a Ford Mondeo.
Oliver had parked his moped on the eastern side of the road and had gone into a nearby shop.
He got back onto his vehicle and is believed to have been trying to cross London Road to go into Springfield Valley Road when he was struck by the Mondeo travelling north.
The teenager was taken to the Conquest Hospital in a critical condition but died on Wednesday morning at Hurstwood Park neurological unit.
Clive Cooke, principal of Sussex Coast College, said: “Staff and students would like to express our sympathies over the tragic accident involving Oliver, one of our students.
“Colleagues who worked closely with Oliver are shocked and dismayed at the news and have commented on how diligent he was in his studies. He had a great future ahead of him.
“The college has sent its condolences to Oliver’s family and our thoughts are with them and his friends at this difficult time.”
The driver of the Mondeo was a 36-year-old man from Dover in Kent, who suffered from shock.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or either of the two vehicles in the minutes before the crash.
