Two arrested after Hastings hit-and-run

Two people have been arrested after a suspected stolen car crashed into two pedestrians in Hastings town centre this afternoon (Thursday, October 13).

Police were alerted after a Peugeot car was stolen, and at around 1.25pm the car was located on Queens Road.

When officers approached the car, it drove off and hit two pedestrians before crashing.

Three people ran from the vehicle - two people have been arrested and one man is still being sought.

One of the pedestrians was a woman in her 60s who was treated for neck and back pain before being taken by ambulance to the Conquest Hospital.

Inspector Mark Boughton said: "Thankfully neither of the pedestrians have been seriously injured but Queens Road has been closed while emergency services are on scene.

"We have arrested two men on suspicion of burglary.

"We are appealing to anyone in the Queens Road area from 1.30pm on Thursday to get in contact on 101 quoting serial 643 of October 13."
