Cylist killed in collision with dustcart

A CYCLIST has been killed after he was in collision with a dustcart this morning (Tuesday).

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was riding his bike alongside his friend, who was also cycling, at around 10.30am when the accident happened at the junction with Ivyhouse Lane and Haywood Way.

Witnesses say he came down Ivyhouse Lane before he was hit by the dustcart, which came from the Heavy Goods Vehicle Testing Station.

Police and paramedics were on scene today and traffic was diverted either side of Ivyhouse Lane.

The cyclist was sadly pronouced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who saw the crash should contact Sussex Police on 101.
