RESIDENTS of a road which was being used as a rat ran are celebrating after being told traffic calming measures will be installed.

Locals living in Milward Road and Manor Road were left disappointed last year when East Sussex County Council cancelled plans to reduce car speeds.

However, along with councillor Godfrey Daniel, the fed-up residents refused to take no for an answer and their efforts were rewarded this week with the news the county council will go ahead with the work later this year.

Cllr Daniel said: “I cannot thank enough all those residents who have petitioned and argued to improve the safety of these roads where there is a very significant accident record.”
