THE latest in a series of children’s play sessions brought fun and activities to Alexandra Park.

The Play Day event on Wednesday (August 15) saw families take part in activities such as messy play, water play, woodwork, fishing, tree climbing, sports and treasure hunts.

Organised by the Play Hastings team at Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with the Hastings and St Leonards Play Forum, thousands of children and families have taken part in the play events so far this year.

Councillor Emily Westley, lead member for leisure said: “Our annual Play Days never fail to attract a big crowd. Keeping the children busy over the summer holidays isn’t easy, but these brilliant events certainly help by giving young people something fun and active to do.”

The events are supported by In2Play, Active Hastings, Children Centres, local Play Groups and organisations and teams of volunteers.

Play Day events aim to promote children’s right to play and highlight the importance of playing outside for children’s health, well-being and happiness.

The next Play Day will take place at the Adventure Playground, in Upper Broomgrove Road on Wednesday, August 22, from 10.30am until 2.30pm.

Entry is £1 per family of up to five people.
