Hastings Borough Council Street Wardens and Asda St Leonards joined forces recently with the community for the Big Litter Pick initiative.

Residents were asked to nominate areas in need of attention and were invited to become part of the week long project.

Roads in the Silverhill and Wishing Tree area were identified to be ‘picked’ and thirteen bags of rubbish were collected in total.

Cllr Phil Scott lead member for environment said: “This is a brilliant initiative and it was great to see members of the community giving up their time to join in with the litter pick. Many people have commented on this new project and hailed it as a huge success. We hope that we will be able to continue with more Big Litter Pick days in the future”

Wendy Border Asda Community Life Champion said: “We would like to thank everyone who nominated areas for us to target and those that joined us on the day for the Big Litter Pick. We hope what we are doing will make a difference, we should be proud of where we live and work and make it an attractive, safe and clean place to be part of.”
