A TEENAGER whose moped collided with a car in St Leonards has died in hospital.

Police and paramedics were called to London Road in the town at 9.40pm on Sunday after the Piaggio moped collided with a Ford Mondeo.

Oliver Corby-Eaglen, 17, of The Green, St Leonards, had parked his moped on the eastern side of the road and had gone into a nearby shop.

He got back onto his moped and is believed to have been trying to cross London Road to go into Springfield Valley when he was struck by the Mondeo travelling north.

The teenager was taken to Conquest Hospital in a critical condition. He died on this morning (Wednesday) at Hurstwood Park neurological unit.

The driver of the Mondeo was a 36-year-old man from Dover in Kent,

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or either of the two vehicles in the minutes before the crash.
