Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old girl suffered a deep cut to her forearm during a scuffle in Middle Street, Hastings, at about 4pm on Friday (July 24).

She was hurt while intervening in an argument between other young people.

Members of the public and security staff from the Priory Meadow shopping centre administered first aid until an ambulance arrived to take the injured girl to the Conquest Hospital.

Following treatment, the girl was allowed home.

Detective Constable Julian Stokes, of Hastings CID, said, “The young lady concerned received a nasty injury after trying to break up an argument involving a friend.

“It was a busy day in the town centre with many passers-by, and we’d like any witnesses to come forward and tell us what they saw.”

They can do so by emailing 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phoning 101, quoting serial 1008 of 24/7.
