KEEN swimmers in 1066 Country have helped raise more than £16,000 for charity.
Fundraisers took part in the annual Swimathon throughout April in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care at Summerfield leisure centre, as well as Bexhill Leisure Pool and Rye Sport Centre.
The total raised came to £16,402 and all of the money will go towards providing Marie Curie nurses to care and support cancer suffers or those with other terminal illness, in the comfort of their own home.
Jeff Hart, managing director of Freedom Leisure, which owns the leisure centres that took part, said: “We are pleased to have been involved in the swimathon again this year and very proud to have helped local people raise more than £16,000.
“It is a great achievement for all involved and we look forward to supporting next year’s swimmers in raising funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.”
