Students’ rookie banger race car

STUDENTS at William Parker Sports College have built their first ever rookie banger which they hope will appear at Arlington Raceway in the next few months.

The boys from Year 11 worked on the project as part of their PVO (Practical Vocational Opportunities) course for several months and learned all about the requirements to race a rookie banger.

Russell Webber, design and technology teacher, said: “This project has had its obstacles but the boys have found it fun and educational, so much so that they want to build another one. So if anybody has an old 1.0 to 1.6cc runner that is heading for the scrap yard or has an MOT failure, then we would be happy to take it off your hands to start a new project.” If anyone can help ring William Parker on 01424 448244.
