A NURSING home has received a nationally recognised accolade for meeting the needs of its staff.
The Laurels Nursing Home, in Old London Road, is one of only 14 care homes and care operators to achieve the Investors in People Gold Standard.
In order to achieve this certification, areas assessed included training and personal development, work-life balance, and overall staff satisfaction.
Manager Christine Boniface said: “Everyone from the top to the bottom was pleased, because they all achieved it, it was a team effort.
“If the staff are happy, the residents are happy.
“We were very proud to achieve it because care homes often get poor reviews in the press.
In total 45 staff work at the nursing home, which has 27 beds, and she added that having a very low staff turn-over was key to the strength of the team, and continuity for the residents.
