MEMBERS of St Leonards Rotary Club met with volunteers of the Pett Level Rescue Boat following a £1,000 donation.

David Martin, chairman, thanked the club president, Tony Leslie, for the money, which will go towards the Building Fund.

Rotarians were given an explanation about the current facilities and the huge difference the new boat house will make to their operations.

Ray Howard, club spokesman, said: “We have supported this organisation on previous occasions, and were pleased to do so again.

“They have now raised some two thirds of the £35,000 required to complete this project, as they do not receive any funding from any source and have to raise any monies themselves.

“The footings are now in place for the new building which it is anticipated will be finished within the next eight to 10 weeks.”
