A TOURIST attraction has reopened following a massive refurbishment over the winter.
Smugglers Adventure, in St Clements Cave on the West Hill, has been completely re-wired, with new lighting and a brand new audio-visual infrastructure installed.
New lighting systems have also been used to highlight the caves’ extraordinary architecture and natural geological formations.
All the life-size characters, interactives and shows were completely refurbished and a number of special effects, including the Ghostly Drummer Boy of Herstmonceux re-instated.
Smugglers Adventure’s Trevor White said: “This has been a major refurbishment project and we’re delighted with the results. It’s been a lot of hard work but it has certainly been well worthwhile and the caves are looking better than they have ever done.
“We’re confident the work will significantly improve the overall visitor experience and enable us to showcase more areas of the caves as well as helping us to bring the story of smuggling vividly to life.”
In addition to the refurbishment work all staff will now be wearing smugglers costumes to add a fun, extra interactive dimension to the visit.
