SLIDESHOW: Santa’s arrival at Priory Meadow

Crowds of people descended on Priory Meadow last night (Thursday, November 26) for the arrival of Santa and his reindeers.

The festivities kicked off at 5pm, with lots of festive entertainment on offer on the stage in Queen’s Square.

Princess Elsa and Olaf from Disney’s Frozen were also at the event and entertained excited children during the evening, as Queen’s Square took on a winter wonderland, complete with snow.

John Hough, Priory Meadow centre manager, said: “Our two big Christmas launch events on these Thursday evenings are always very popular, although it’s always difficult (and usually expensive) to think of something ‘new’ to do to entertain the crowds, particularly for Santa’s arrival.

“We were incredibly lucky with the weather this year which encouraged huge numbers of people and I hope that everyone found something to enjoy, whether it be the excellent Hastings Stage Studio on stage, Punch & Judy, the reindeer, or the Snow Globe - which was very popular right through the evening.

“It’s great to be able to offer some free entertainment and fun in our town centre at the start of the festive season, and I’m also pleased to say we have kept all the ticket pricing the same as last year for the ice rink that opens this Saturday, right the way through January 5, so please come and enjoy some fun on the ice and don’t forget to do some Christmas shopping with us too.”
