A prolific shoplifter has been put behind bars for eight weeks after stealing £777 worth of goods.
Emma Sabine, 29, appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court on Friday, February 13, where she pleaded guilty to shoplifting, and was subsequently sentenced.
The offences included taking £56 worth of cheese from Tesco in Hastings on January 6, £35 of wine from Spar in Hastings on January 21, six candles worth £108 from Boots in Hastings on January 24, and £578 worth of beauty products from Superdrug in Hastings on February 2.
Sabine, of Holmesdale Gardens, committed the offences while she was on a suspended sentence. That was imposed in December last year for other shoplifting offences committed last summer.
PC Nick Marriott, from the Hastings Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “Shoplifting is a serious offence which takes hard-earned cash out of the pockets of innocent business owners who should not have to suffer at the hands of the likes of Sabine.
“I hope her sentence will reassure the business community that we do take their concerns seriously and will take decisive action to put offenders before the courts.”
