Training sessions are on offer for all men wishing to take part in this year’s Y Front Run.
StreetGames is working in partnership with organisers of the event to encourage men to take up the challenge of running 5km around Alexandra Park in September.
Councillor Dawn Poole, Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for leisure, said: “From Monday, April 13 the council’s StreetGames will be running training sessions every week for 12 weeks to encourage all men of any age and fitness to prepare for the annual Y Front Run in September.
“This is a great opportunity for all local men, including teenagers and OAPs to increase fitness and raise awareness of male cancer issues. I strongly urge interested people to turn up at 6pm on Monday, April 13 outside the café in Alexandra Park to register and take part in these training sessions.”
Jo Brazier, founder of The Y Front Run Campaign, said: “I set up The Y Front Run Campaign to educate and involve local men to raise awareness of male cancer and to take part in an event.
“This year the Y Front Run takes place on Sunday, September 27 in Alexandra Park and men can register at www.yfrontrun.co.uk.”
