A SCHOOLBOY will trek the length of Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for a cancer charity.

Harry Reece, 14, of Bedgebury Close, St Leonards, will make the 84 mile ramble in August with his father Mark.

His mum, Julie Reece, said: “He had the idea totally off his own back. He’s looking forward to the trip but is starting to realise what a massive challenge it will be.”

The walk is in aid of The Royal Marsden Cancer Centre in London and aims to raise around £1,000, which they are half-way to already.

Harry decided to go on the coast to coast walk in memory of a seven-year-old girl he knew who died of a brain tumour last year.

The expedition will take place over six days and Harry has been going on extensive weekend walks in preparation for the hike.

He attends Buckswood School and is also a member of Hastings Athletics Club, South Saxons Hockey team, and is a keen footballer.

“Harry has always been very sporty and active but he deliberately chose to do something that would be hard and give him a real challenge but he’s very confident of completing the walk,” added Mrs Reece.

Buckswood School supported Harry in this venture with a non-uniform day a couple of weeks ago.
