Rubbish collections disputed by ice and snow

SOME residents will have to wait until after the New Year for their recycled waste to be collected.

Snow and ice is continuing to cause disruption to rubbish and recycling services, Hastings Borough Council said.

A spokesman for the local authority said: “Our contractor, Veolia, is trying to return to some outstanding collections so we are asking residents to leave their rubbish so that it is available to the crews.

“Progress may be limited so on Monday (December 27) we will collect rubbish instead of recycling in twin bin areas and remove any additional bags of rubbish left alongside the bins.

“This means that Monday’s twin bin area will have to wait until Monday, January 10, for their next recycling collection.”

Any further disruptions due to weather conditions will be published on the council’s website at and will be available on the answerphone message on 01424 451077.
