A TEENAGER has become the first ever Royal Marine cadet to be named Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports Cadets.

Alexander Bryant, of Westfield Lane, will now be charged with supporting the lord warden - a position which dates back to the 12th Century.

Admiral the Lord Boyce - a former First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy and Chief of the Defence Staff - was appointed lord warden back in July 2004, and 16-year-old Cpl Bryant will stand alongside him at a host of ceremonial events throughout the year.

The Claverham College student’s unit leader Chris Connor said: “As you can imagine we as a unit are very proud of Cpl Bryant.”
