CHILDREN from Silverdale School were given valuable training on how to cross the road safely.
More than 270 youngsters from the reception, years one and two classes, went out in small groups over a three-week period.
The sessions were provided by East Sussex County Council (ESCC), and designed to teach children about pedestrian safety, as well as road safety.
Anna Collins, Key Stage one manager at Silverdale School, said: “We were made aware of these very valuable training sessions by one of our parents who works for Child Pedestrian Safety at ESCC and lives locally.
“The children really enjoyed taking part in the sessions and their knowledge of how to stay safe on the pavement, around traffic and while crossing the road was extended upon in each session. It is hoped that they will then share their experiences and knowledge with siblings and parents.”
