A NEW minibus for older people has been blessed at a ceremony.
Rev Andrew Perry conducted it as part of the culmination of a year of fundraising on the part of residents at Ridge House, and Abbeyfield, which owns the supported housing in Boscobel Road, St Leonards.
The minibus will be used to provide outings, shopping trips and transport for residents.
The celebration included a coffee morning at St John’s Church Hall.
Rev Perry was joined by the Mayor, Councillor Kim Forward, and Hastings MP Amber Rudd.
Ian McNulty, house manager for Ridge House, said: “We would like to thank all the people who took part in our sponsored St Leonards to St Albans walk in April, with a special thank you to actor Christopher Timothy, our Mayor Kim Forward, and John Bartholomew, the town crier, for starting us off.
“We would also like to thank former newsreader Richard Baker and actor Geoffrey Palmer for meeting us at Abbeyfield National Office in St Albans where we finished the walk.”
Ms Rudd said: “Congratulations to all those who fundraised to make this possible. It is a tremendous achievement.”
