Recycle unwanted electrical goods

ELECTRONIC equipment can now be disposed of in new bins, which have been installed at four sites across the town.

The bins are specifically for the recycling of smaller electrical goods such as hairdryers, mobile phones, computer parts, printers, and other similar sized items.

Councillor Phil Scott, lead member for environment at Hastings Borough Council, said: “These bins are conveniently located at the big supermarkets and the leisure centre, so whether you’re doing your weekly shop or taking the kids swimming, its never been easier to recycle.

“Those residents who have made the mistake of placing electrical goods in their household waste bins in the past will know that this prevents them from being collected.”

Larger items such as televisions and washing machines must be taken to the recycling and waste site in Fresh Fields, Bexhill Road. Alternatively Hastings Borough Council offers a bulky waste collection, details can be found online at www.hastings.gov.uk/environment_planning/cleaner_hastings/rubbish_recycle/get_bulky_waste_collected/.

Items left around the outside of the bins will be treated as flytipping.
