Pupils and staff from St Mary’s school and college in Wrestwood Road Bexhill had an amazing trip recently when they met the stars from the X Factor.
To raise the money to attend the X Factor Live in Brighton the girls on Krever Residential house made and sold Christmas gifts to staff and parents and held a Karaoke party.
As a special treat, Mr Kelly (one of the parents) managed to arrange a meet and greet session with all of the stars of the show. They met with, X Factor winner Matt Terry, girl group Four of Diamonds, Saara Aalto, 5 After Midnight, Sam Lavery, Emily Middlemas and the rap star and producer Honey G, who will be appearing in the Pantomime in Hastings at Christmas.
The pupils were not told they would be meeting the stars until they were on the coach heading to the venue and when they were told there was screaming and tears of joy. One pupil said “I cannot believe this is happening to me, I am so excited”
All the pupils had a chance to chat to the stars, collect autographs and have their picture taken.
After the meet and greet the pupils watched and thoroughly enjoyed the live show.
Everyone had a great time and would like to thank the stars of the X Factor and the staff at the Brighton Centre for making the evening such a memorable one.
The pupils are now thinking of new ways they can raise money to go and see the show again next year.
St Mary’s was founded in 1922 as a special school for disabled children by medical professionals who wanted to provide the best possible start for young people who then had few opportunities to access education with support. it is run by The Talking Trust, a leading registered charity who provide non-maintained residential education and therapy for children and young people aged 7 – 19 who have severe speech, language and/or communication difficulties.
