THE Rotary Club of Hastings presents the third year of the hotly contested secondary school 1066 Choir Competition next Friday (May 17).
This year the club said the entry has been of such a high standard that 13 choirs will be competing on the evening finals for the top spot and the winning prize of appearing on stage with the choir’s patron Tenors Unlimited for their Christmas concert.
Each choir sings in turn with a short selection of numbers demonstrating a broad band of talent before the judging and all important presentation ceremony at the end of the evening.
Ray Dixon, from the Rotary Club of Hastings, said: “The enthusiasm for the event has been truly staggering. Each year school choirs come from further afield to be part of this exciting evening. The tenors are genuine in their support for the competition and have a local connection in that Jem Sharples is a local lad.” For tickets call the White Rock box office on 01424 462288. Seats £10, concessions £9.
