A NIGHTCLUB for adults with learning disabilities is hoping to attract more people after proving so popular.
Kenect, based at The Brass Monkey in Havelock Road, was launched last November by East View Housing Management Ltd.
It was initially based at the Roomz in Western Road, St Leonards, but moved to its present venue for more space.
Kelly Dunn, acting deputy manager of two homes East View Housing owns, said: “We set Kenect up because we felt there was not much out there at night for adults with learning disabilities.
“We wanted them to experience the same things other people do, like going to a nightclub.
“People who come along love it, have a dance, socialise and make new friends. So we want to get the word out there more that the club exists.
“We are delivering leaflets to all the care homes in Hastings and elsewhere to tell them about Kenect and promote it.”
Kenect trades under East View Housing Management Ltd, which owns a number of homes in town for adults with learning disabilities.
It is held at The Brass Monkey between 7.30pm and 10pm on the last Friday of every month except on bank holidays.
Admission is £3 per person and carers go free.
Kelly added: “The Brass Monkey has a DJ, fully licensed bar/cocktail bar with a good-sized dance floor, it also has disabled access. Kenect is for those over the age of 18 and ID will be required.”
