Police warn of conwoman in Ore

PENSIONERS are being warned to be on their guard against a conwoman who pretends to be pregnant and asks for money for a taxi to go to hospital.

Police are warning residents of Ore to be wary of the woman who is aged around 35.

She sits on the steps next to Co-op in Old London Road, stands near the cash machine in Fairlight Road and the Post Office and targets people as they collect their benefit money or pension.

She feigns illness claiming she is extremely unwell and needs cash for medication or simply that she has no money for gas and electricity.

Those that have been targeted are vulnerable themselves and have handed over money. She has been known to enter the homes of some of her victims and steal cash or other items that may be of value.

Victims or witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting 1027 of 17 April or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”

The offender is described as white, aged about 35, is approximately 5” 7’ tall of medium to stocky build, with very long brown hair.
