Poetry book recalls artistic roots

Girl on Fire
Girl on Fire

A PERFORMANCE artist, who lived in Hastings, has just had her first poetry collection published.

Girl on Fire is the work of Emma Stace Darling, a former pupil of Ancaster House School at Bexhill.

Emma, 41, has always been creative, singing and dancing in shows and was a regular at the Hastings Musical Festival.

Emma’s mother is now chairman of the festival.

Emma, who was also a singing teacher, remains a big fan of Hastings and although she has lived in Italy for the past 18 months, she still comes home often.

Girl on Fire describes part of Emma’s experiences of life as an artist.

Singing opera, acting, writing, painting and performance art are translated into a diverse, exhilarating and captivating journey.

Described as charismatic, naturally funny, warm, sharp, and highly sensitive, Emma also describes her equal amounts of exquisite physical and emotional pain here with the same fearless candour as her sometimes in your face, and often dark, limericks.

And Emma’s deep love for chocolate is also given a mention too.
