MEMBERS of a rehabilitation centre that helps people with brain injuries are doing a charity fundraising walk tomorrow (Saturday).
The Friends of Mulberry House, based in Hollington Park Road, St Leonards, will be walking from Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier to raise money for a new mobility vehicle.
The group works to raise funds for projects which will enhance residents’ lives and have already raised more than £7,000 this year.
Their latest mission is to buy a mobility vehicle which will enable the residents to have greater access to the local community, and for which a recent barbecue and fete contributed more than £1,000.
Lisa Tritton, manager of Mulberry House, said: “It’s 16 miles from pier to pier along the coast so it’s a beautiful walk and we’re hoping that we’ll be joined by a few more walkers to help swell the funds.
“All we need now is good weather and lots of sponsors. And, for anyone who can’t make the full 16 miles, we’ll be stopping at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill for lunch and people are very welcome to join us there for the second half.”
Mulberry House, part of Titleworth Neuro Ltd, cares for residents with acquired brain injuries and other complex neurological conditions.
Julien Payne, Titleworth Group’s managing director, said: “A big thank you from me to all our Friends. The walk is another of their fantastic fundraisers and we’re truly grateful for their hard work and effort.”
