FASHION fans were treated to four catwalk shows in a day at Priory Meadow on Saturday.
Audiences gathered inside the shopping centre to showcase new autumn and winter collections from retailers.
Priory Meadow manager John Hough said: “Given the unpredictability of the weather, I don’t suppose we should have been surprised to see the newly arrived autumn and winter collections from our fashion retailers showcased on one of the hottest and sunniest days of the year.
“Hot, sunny days are always a challenge for us given the close proximity of our beach and seafront, but at the time of each of the four shows people swelled into the mall to get a good viewing position and we finished up with footfall numbers up around 15 per cent on what we might reasonably expect on a day like that, and this fed through as a welcome boost in sales for most retailers whose fashion wear was on display during the day.
“It was very warm in the mall but despite the heat our show is always more than just a cat walk. with some very energetic and entertaining dance routines performed by some really talented models who are in many instances the top in their field. We gave away about £200 in gift cards between the shows plus a generous lot of giveaways from Toni & Guy that were all well received.”
“The teenage and children’s sections of the show always go down very well, led by local talents Jed and Jay, supported this year by youngsters from the Ninfield Dance and Drama School who were a great bunch. I’m sure we’ll be scouting for more up and coming local talent in time for next year’s show”.
