Pensioner warns of bogus computer calls

AN 82-YEAR-OLD woman is warning householders to be on their guard after being bombarded with phone calls from bogus Microsoft operatives.

Monica Smith, 82, of Norman Road, St Leonards, says she has been telephoned at least six times this month by a man with an Indian voice.

Last month the Observer reported how Helen Driver of Ashbrook Road, St Leonards, handed over £150 to a bogus Microsoft caller who said he needed to fix her computer.

Mrs Smith, a retired Observer accounts clerk, said: “The man said he knew I had a computer and a laptop and they needed to be fixed.

“I am 82 years old and have no idea about computers.

“These people should not be allowed to make unsolicited calls.”
