A PENSIONER was airlifted to hospital with a life-threatening head injury after she was in collision with a car on one of the busiest roads in Hastings.
The woman, aged around 70, was a pedestrian when she was injured during the collision with a blue Honda on the A259 Bexhill Road in Bulverhythe just before midday.
She was taken by air ambulance to King’s College Hospital in London.
Road closures were still in operation around the scene at 1.30pm resulting in major traffic congestion in the area.
Richard Airey of South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “We were called to the scene just after 12pm.
“The patient was a woman aged around 70 who suffered head and chest injuries and was airlifted to hospital.”
